The Spring Lake volleyball team fell to Zeeland East in a three-set match by scores of 26-28, 12-25 and 23-25 on Tuesday night.

The Lakers were led by Katherine Penning with six kills while Aliya Williams, Brianna Kirby, Abbey Rogalski, and Brooke St. George each had four.

Audrey Marine had 11 assists for Spring Lake while Peyton Hein had nine.

Marine also led the defense with 10 digs while Penning had six. Both Rogalski and Kirby had three blocks apiece.

“We played some of our best volleyball in the first set, scoring on attacks and blocks, only to miss a serve giving them point 27,” said Spring Lake coach Ed Bailey. “We seem to have problems starting the second set, always playing behind.”

The Lakers are now 7-18 on the season and 2-7 in league play. They will travel to play Holland on Thursday.
