The Spring Lake volleyball squad needed just three sets to beat Holland on Thursday night.

The Lakers won by scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-15 to improve to 8-18 on the season and 3-7 in conference action.

Katherine Penning paced Spring Lake with 10 kills while Aliya Williams, Brianna Kirby, and Brooke St. George each had seven. Audrey Marine chipped in 21 assists and Peyton Hein had five aces with 13 assists.

The Lakers were led defensively by Lauren Nicles with 12 digs while Madeline Meigs had 10.

“We finally put three sets together for a victory,” said Spring Lake coach Ed Bailey. “After starting out the first set behind 1-8, we started to play together as team. Our net play is improving with every match and tonight was evidence of that.”

The Lakers will face Holland Christian next on Tuesday.
