FREMONT – The visiting Whitehall Vikings rallied off seven straight touchdowns in the first three quarters en route to the 47-6 West Michigan Conference win over Fremont Friday night.
Camden Thompson had himself a night. The Whitehall quarterback accounted for five total touchdowns, two on the ground and three through the air.
Thompson started the scoring with a 38-yard TD run just minutes into the game. Thompson connected on a TD pass in each of the first three quarters. Thompson hit Corde Anderson for a 12-yard score in the first, Hunter Osborne with a 17-yard strike in the second and a 41-yard TD pass to Blake English in the third. Then, Thompson capped the Vikings scoring with a 44-yard TD scamper in the third quarter.
Whitehall outgained the Packers offense 496-222, with a whopping 394 yards on the ground. Thompson finished with 163 yards on seven carries and went 6-for-14 in the air for 95 yards. Nathan Betz had 12 carries for 162 yards and a pair of TDs, carting one in from 54 yards and punching the other in from 2 yards out.
Karter Frens scored a 9-yard TD run with just over 3 minutes to play to put the host Packers on the board. Frens rushed 24 times for 113 yards to pace Fremont. Khai Noordyk added 71 yards on 16 carries.
