MUSKEGON – The Fruitport Trojans made a strong statement on Saturday in its Division 2 district final sweep over Montague.

The Trojans dominated and won the volleyball district title with a 25-22, 25-14, 25-9 victory over the Montague Wildcats.

That means Fruitport is heading to the regionals at 7 p.m. Tuesday to take on host Forest Hills Eastern.

Ellie Stroup had a solid day for the Trojans with nine kills. Gracelynn Olson had 23 sets and seven assists while Tara Sweet had 13 digs.

Montague’s Jordan Netcott had nine service points (1 ace) and 11 digs. Ava Pumford and Maizie Collins had three kills each. Collins also had 12 digs.

Wildcat senior Jaelyn Sundberg capped her career with nine assists and finished with 3,696 for her career.

Fruitport is now 34-11.
