COOPERSVILLE – The Grand Haven volleyball team snapped their 17-year district title streak with a tough and tight loss to Coopersville, 20-25, 23-25, 22-25, in the Division 1 district semifinal on Wednesday.

“We came into the match feeling really good about how we played over the last couple of weeks,” said Grand Haven coach Aaron Smaka. “Give a lot of credit to Coopersville, which played unbelievably great defense tonight and was more aggressive offensively than we were.”

Mallory Woiteshek led the Bucs with 19 kills, eight digs and a block. Nadia Prieditis had eight kills, four aces and 14 digs. Allie Musial added four kills, while Sara Weber had one kill, 25 assists and six digs. Reghan Miller threw in a kill, an ace and six digs.

“We definitely played hard, I love the effort that our team gave, but Coopersville was a better team tonight,” said Smaka.

Grand Haven wrapped up the season, 25-16.
