MUSKEGON – The Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team got off to a good start on Friday night and went on to defeat the Grace University JV team, 83-66.
 
The game was played at Bartels-Rode Gymnasium.
 
Early intensity at the defensive end of the court limited Grace to just eight points in the first 10 minutes of the game. Despite the slow start, Grace was able to battle back. MCC led 37-26 at the half.
 
The Jayhawks’ flashed their offensive skills in the second half and racked up 46 points to capture their second victory of the season.
 
Sophomore Darius Williams sparked the offense with 14 points and eight assists. Fellow sophomores Devon Washington and Joe Russau shared top scoring honors with 16 points each. Freshman Lamarkis Graham provided scoring off the bench for the Jayhawks with 14 points and seven rebounds in 20 minutes of playing time.
 
The Jayhawks return to their home court at 7 p.m. Tuesday against the Calvin University JV team.
