NORTON SHORES – The Kent City volleyball team breezed through the opening round of the Division 3 district tournament with a three-set win against Holton (25-9, 25-17, 25-6) on Monday.

The Eagles’ Kenzy Freeland led with six kills, five aces and a block. Laynee Hoffman had six kills, three aces and a block, while Maddy Mitchell and Alyssa Miller added six and five kills, respectively.

Also, Cailynn Hartzell scored two aces, made 22 assists and led the defense with 13 digs.

Kent City (26-13-4) will be back at Western Michigan Christian on Wednesday to take on North Muskegon in the district semifinal.
