JENISON – The Mona Shores volleyball team’s strong season came to an end with a heartbreaking loss to Jenison in the semifinal round of the Division 1 regional tournament on Tuesday.
The Sailors fell to the highly ranked Wildcats 20-25, 20-25, 25-20, 27-29.
Grace Allen led the Sailors with 17 kills and 11 digs. Laynie Russell had 12 kills, while Kyli Geoghan chipped in five kills and 12 digs. Elena Reister made 30 assists and had 17 digs. Izzy Sturtevant led the defense with 25 digs.
“What a great legacy these seniors have left for Mona shores volleyball,” said Sailors’ coach Kathy Hellmann. “They have shown up and proved themselves every day. Thank you will never say enough.”
The Sailors defeated the Wildcats earlier in the season during league play.
Mona Shores wrapped up the season, 32-9.
