MUSKEGON – The Montague volleyball team earned a spot in the Division 2 district title game with a four-set victory over Spring Lake on Thursday night.
The Wildcats held off the Lakers, 20-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-18, in a tight semifinal match on Thursday.
Maizie Collins led the production for the Wildcats with 16 kills, one ace, 18 digs and two blocks. Reagan Cederquist threw in 11 kills and a pair of blocks. Ava Pumford had seven kills, one ace and three blocks, while Gentry Knop scored three aces and had 15 digs.
Jordan Netcott scored two aces and had 18 digs. Jaelyn Sundberg contributed 37 assists and 15 digs.
The Lakers’ Katherine Penning led with 14 kills, one ace and 15 digs. Brianna Kirby and Brooke St. George each had 12 kills, one ace and a block. Lauren Nicles chipped in two aces and 31 digs, while Peyton Hein added one ace and 23 assists. Audrey Marine scored one ace and made 19 assists.
Madeline Meigs had 14 digs on defense for the Lakers.
Montague will return to Orchard View for the district final match against Fruitport on Saturday.
Spring Lake finished the season with a record of 10-21.
