BYRON CENTER – The Muskegon Catholic Central volleyball team was handed a tough loss to Zion Christian (17-25, 13-25, 18-25) in the opening round of the Division 4 district tournament on Monday evening.

Claire Carlton led the Crusaders with five kills, one ace, four digs and a block. Molly Caughey had six kills and a pair of blocks. Abbigail Cook chipped in four kills, one ace and six digs, while Aubrey Shepherd added five aces and seven digs.

Sophia Muskovin scored two aces and had eight digs. Emily Muskovin threw in a kill, 19 assists and five digs.

“The girls never gave up and showed growth through the season,” said Muskegon Catholic Central coach Shawn Bectel. “I was extremely proud of the strides we made this year and I’m excited for the future of this program.”

Muskegon Catholic Central wrapped up the season with a record of 13-24.
