GRAND RAPIDS – The Muskegon Community College men kicked off its basketball season on Wednesday night with a lopsided victory over the Cornerstone JV team.
The Jayhawks used their inside game to dominate offensively. MCC scored 46 points in the paint. The Jayhawks also had a balanced scoring attack, led by sophomore Kevon Washington with 21 points and sophomore Will Chye with 16 points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Darius Williams finished with 15 points, four rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block in 25 minutes of play.
Four of the five starters reached double figures. MCC led 47-34 at the half and outscored Cornerstone 44-33 in the second half.
The Jayhawks kick off the home portion of the schedule at 7 p.m. Friday against the Grace Christian University JV team.
