GRAND RAPIDS – The Hart girls’ basketball team was successful in the Hoop Summit Showcase at Aquinas College with a 55-33 win over Northpointe Christian on Saturday.
The Pirates opened with some early miscues, but tightened up to lead 11-8 after the first quarter and 26-19 by halftime.
After the break, the defense applied pressure that aided in a 21-3 scoring advantage and cruised the rest of the way.
Rilynn Porter led the Pirates with 16 points, seven assists and four steals. Kelsey Copenhaver added 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Reese Smith had eight points, five steals and two rebounds.
Hart (2-0) will open WMC-Rivers play at Shelby on Tuesday.
