After two tough losses on the road in recent weeks, the Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks returned home and earned a 65-55 victory over the Calvin University Knights JV team.
The game was played at Bartels-Rode Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
MCC got off to a good start on both ends of the floor and limited Calvin to just five points in the opening quarter.
TyVeonna Davis led MCC with 18 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and five steals. Anna Lundquist also turned in a solid game with 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Jayna Edmondson added 12 points and three rebounds while Remi Sponseller hauled down 10 rebounds and had five steals.
“We had a great win tonight,” said Jayhawk coach Jason Cooper. “I am excited about how we came out defensively in the first half. We’re getting better. They responded from our loss from last game, so I’m excited about our progress.”
The Lady Jayhawks host Kalamazoo Valley Community College at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
