Mona Shores hockey used a solid performance from Eli Habetler to take down Holland West Ottawa 5-2 in a Wednesday night home contest.
The Sailors built a 3-1 lead into the second period and closed the door with its final goal in the third period.
Habetler led the Sailors with a pair of goals and an assist.
Mona Shores struck first on a Quinn Addicott goal that was assisted by Vaire VanderWalle. The Sailors couldn’t hold on to the early lead as West Ottawa responded six seconds later with a goal by Carson Arens.
Habetler put Mona Shores back on top 2-1 just before the end of the opening period. Nathan Tilden opened the second period with goal that fed by Habetler and Brady Tilden.
West Ottawa’s Nate Bean added the Panthers’ second goal, against just seconds after Mona Shores’ goal.
Habetler scored his second goal of the night just before the end of the seonc period with assists from Brady Tilden and Nathan Tilden.
Cooper Nellis closed out the scoring for Mona Shores midway through the third period on an assist from Cullen Conrad.
Mona Shores’ goalie Joey Griffes-Castonia grabbed the win in goal.
