NORTON SHORES – It was a tale of two halves on Tuesday night at Western Michigan Christian.
In the opening half, the Calvin Christian Squires raced off to a double-digit lead, but the Warriors stormed back in the second half and earned a 47-40 victory.
“We have to start quicker and tonight proved that,” said WMC coach Matt Haveman, whose team fell behind 28-14 at the half. “In the first half, we got beat up and down the court. We made some adjustments at halftime and the boys came out fired up to play great team defense in the second half.”
WMC put up 33 points in the second half and limited Calvin Christian to just 12.
Levi Dutton paced the Warriors with 18 points. Derrick Ashley and Tyson Annema each scored 10.
“We have great respect for Calvin Christian and their program,” Haveman said. “The difference tonight was our ability to play as a team on both ends of the court in the second half.”
