BALDWIN – The Mason County Eastern girls’ basketball team traveled to Baldwin for a West Michigan D League game Thursday night and came away with a 51-29 blow out win.
Eastern came out a bit sluggish in the first quarter and permitted the Panthers to stay with them for an 8-8 tie at the horn.
Things changed entirely in the second period, as the Cardinals took flight on offense and clamped down on defense for a 21-8 advantage to take a 29-16 lead at the half.
Lucy Shoup finished with a game-high 15 points to lead the Cardinals and she also ripped down 16 rebounds. Annabelle Zwagerman contributed 11 points and nine boards. Brailyn Johnson added 10 points and 12 steals.
Eastern improved its record to 4-3 overall, 3-2 in the WMD. The Cardinals host Marion in the WMD next Tuesday.
