WHITE CLOUD – The Kent City girls basketball team put away White Cloud, 53-28, for their third straight CSAA-White victory of the season on Friday.

The Eagles had a 13-8 lead after the first quarter and 25-18 by halftime. The Indians were outscored 28-10 over the last two quarters to seal the Eagles’ win.

Kenzy Freeland led the Eagles with 10 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and four assists. Laynee Hoffman added nine points and three assists, while Brooke Skrabis had eight points, four rebounds and three steals. Ellie Hansen chipped in eight points.

The Indians’ Andi Vincent scored nine points, while Addyson Cook and Payten Bird threw in eight and seven points, respectively.

“Unfortunately, our execution in the second half fell off a bit,” said White Cloud coach Caleb Wilk. “Kent City was able to get a few more open looks and they extended their lead in the third quarter. We need to keep working on being strong with the ball and making good decisions.”

Kent City (7-2, 3-0) will host Newaygo on Tuesday.

White Cloud (2-6, 0-3) is at home on Tuesday against Big Rapids.
