WHITE CLOUD – The Pentwater boys basketball team traveled to White Cloud for a major non-conference test Tuesday night and pulled off a 55-49 upset.

Pentwater had a hot hand from beyond the 3-point line to start the game, with Trey Johnson hitting a pair of triples as the Falcons established a 14-8 lead after the first quarter.

But, the Indians came back with some 3-pointers of their own in the second quarter. It wasn’t quite enough, however, as the Falcons maintained a 27-26 edge at the half.

The Falcons outscored the Indians, 17-12 in the third quarter to build a 44-38 advantage.

Michael Carlson paced the Falcons with 23 points, including four 3-pointers. Johnson also knocked down four triples and finished with 14 points. Jonny Arnouts had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Pentwater improved to 9-1 and hosts Mason County Eastern in a West Michigan D League game Friday night.

White Cloud dropped to 7-3 and saw its three-game winning streak snapped. The Indians host Kent City on Friday night.
