GRANT – The Grant boys basketball team dug themselves out of an early hole against White Cloud to tally their 17th win on Tuesday.

The Tigers topped the Indians, 48-43.

Grant fell behind an 11-0 Indian run to open the game. The Tigers slowed the scoring but still trailed, 28-21 at halftime.

After the break, the Tigers came out and employed a stifling defense limiting the Indians to just three third-quarter points. The Tigers took the lead and held on to the end.

“The Indians are well coached and they played well,” said George. “My guys learned some things about their intestinal fortitude tonight and I’m proud of them.”

Zaiden Phillips scored 14 points for the Tigers, while Sincere Hatch and Ethan DeLong added 11 points apiece. Blake Rider threw in nine points.

Kaleb Canning lead White Cloud with nine points while Jayden Robinson, Coleson Cruzan and Brady Strait had eight points apeice. David Higgs and Reece Hewitt both chipped in with five points.

Grant (17-2, 8-0) travels to Reed City on Friday for a CSAA-Red game.

White Cloud (10-9, 2-4) will be at Kent City for CSAA-White play on Thursday.
