GRANT – The Grant boys’ basketball team had 11 different players score on Tuesday in an 80-35 win over Montague in a non-league game.
“I was not happy with our offense or defense in the first quarter, but the defense kicked in and we outscored Montague 27-2 in the second quarter,” said Grant coach Dan George. “We need to be more consistent in our play, and we’re working on that. It was nice to get the bench guys some playing time.”
The Tigers were led by Ethan DeLong with 19 points, while Zaiden Phillips scored 16 and Sincere Hatch had 14.
“We competed well in the first quarter against a very good Grant team,” said Wildcat coach Nick Thaler. “Grant is well coached and a dangerous offensive team. Defensively, they are very disciplined and do not miss many assignments.
“We needed to play our best to compete with them,” said Thaler, whose team is 4-14 overall. “We lacked that focus and attention to detail in the middle portion of the contest.”
