WHITEHALL – Camden Thompson did what he’s been doing all season long.

Thompson went off with a double-double of 30 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, three steals and a block in Whitehall’s 71-66 win over Oakridge.

The Eagles took a 17-11 lead in the first quarter, but the Vikings answered with a run of their own with a 27-19 scoring advantage. The Vikings had a slight 38-36 edge at halftime.

The Vikings carried the momentum into the third quarter and stretched their lead to 52-47 with a quarter left to play.

The Eagles tried to erase the deficit in the fourth quarter, but the Vikings had an answer for every basket.

Brock Morningstar had 13 points, five steals and three rebounds for the Vikings. Corde Anderson added 12 points, seven rebounds and a block.

Evan Jozsa led the Eagles with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Peyton Ruel chipped in 14 points and nine assists. Bryson Stephenson had 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Michael Wambaugh had 10 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Evan Miller scored 10 points.

“It was a classic of a game between two great teams,” said Oakridge coach Tracy Ruel. “I’m proud of my team on how we played and the effort they gave.” 

Whitehall (15-3, 9-0) hosts Allendale on Monday.

Oakridge (12-7, 6-4) will be at home on Tuesday for a conference game against Fremont.
