NORTON SHORES – Madie Folkema and Western Michigan Christian girls basketball turned a solid fourth quarter into a 48-39 win over visiting Kalamazoo Loy Norrix on Friday night.
Folkema poured in 11 of her game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter to help lift the Warriors to victory.
WMC trailed 14-12 after the first quarter and was able to take a 27-27 tie into half time.
Both teams struggled offensively in the third quarter as the Warriors were able to hold a slim, 31-29 lead to start the fourth.
The Warriors leveraged a stifling half-court trap to force countless Loy Norrix turnovers.
Maria Eenigenberg was key in WMC’s defense and also came through with 12 of her 16 points in the first half.
WMC next faces Hart on Saturday at home for a 2 p.m. matchup.
