ALTO – Freshman Cruz Beckstrom tied a Mona Shores school record with a 4-under-par 31 and led the Sailors to a first-place finish in an OK-Green jamboree at Saskatoon Golf Course on Monday. 

The Sailors put together a score of 146 and remained perfect in conference play.

Caledonia finished runner-up with 153, Jenison came in third place with 157, Reeths-Puffer was fourth with 158 and Byron Center came in fifth with 160.

The Sailors’ Andrew Fisher was fourth overall with a 37. Brady Volkmann and Lincoln Harwood each shot a 39. Gavin Olson and Eddie Kuznar carded a 40 and 41, respectively.

The Rockets’ Kristian Brown, Ayden Hartzell and Aiden Waggoner each shot a 39. Hartzell’s day was highlighted with an eagle on hole No. 7. Kye Grant had a 41 and Kaeden Benner shot a 43. Jamie Neel added a 50.

Also, Tristan Baker shot a 48 in an exhibition match for the Rockets. 

“The team made some strides in the right direction today, and we had our best overall 9-hole score as a team,” said Reeths-Puffer coach Matt Pallett. “The guys are not satisfied, which is a good thing. We just need to continue to have four guys play well on the same night.”

Mona Shores and Reeths-Puffer will be at The Meadows on Wednesday to compete in the OK Green Mid-Season Tournament.
