KENTWOOD – The Grand Haven softball team’s Lorelei Chciuk tossed a 14-strikeout, no-hitter to help the Bucs take down East Kentwood on Thursday.

With that performance, the Bucs secured an 8-1 OK-Red victory.

“We attacked on both sides of the ball and applied constant pressure on East Kentwood,” said Grand Haven coach John Hall. “We put hard barrels to the ball and it was the most efficient game I have seen Lorelei throw in a while.”

Haylie Alsip led the offense with three hits, two runs and four RBI. Bri Borgman had three hits and an RBI, while Maya Deaton added a hit, a run and two RBI. Makenna VandenBrink and Claire Sova each had a hit and a run.

Chciuk and Ryley Jeltema recorded a hit apiece.

“We have really tried to focus on ourselves this past week,” said Hall. “We don’t look at the front of our opponent’s jerseys, we only care about us and how we play. We accomplished all of our goals today.”

Grand Haven (8-5, 1-2) will visit West Ottawa on Friday.
