HOWARD CITY – The Grant baseball team split a twin bill against Howard City Tri-County on Monday.

Both teams traded leads in the opener before the Tigers pulled ahead in the top of the fifth inning on the way to a 14-7 win. The Tigers fell short in the nightcap, 3-2.

Owen Chesebro led the charge from the mound and at bat in Game 1. Chesebro gave up three hits, no runs and struck out four batters, while collecting two singles and a double at the plate.

Rory Fish allowed four hits, seven runs, six walks and struck out six as the starting pitcher for Grant.

Blake Rider had two hits and scored three runs while Austin Tyers and Brayden Jordan added three hits and two hits, respectively for the Tigers. 

In Game 2, Tyres gave up six hits, three runs, two walks and struck out four batters.

Gragg had two hits and a run while Jordan chipped in a pair of hits. Also, Tyres scored a run.

Grant will be at home on Wednesday for a single game against Tri County.
