Hosting the Traverse City West Titans in a non-conference match at Oriole Field, the Orioles drew first blood with a goal after just six minutes. But, after that it was pretty much all TC West as the Titans scored four unanswered goals for a 5-1 win.
The problem was on defense for the Orioles, and unfortunately, that affected their offense.
“It just felt like we were constantly on defense,” Ludington coach Kris Anderson said. “We just couldn’t string some things together.”
Ludington’s lone goal came off the foot of freshman striker Hestyn Stowe, on an assist from senior Maddy Billings.
West answered with a goal off a corner kick 11 minutes later, and then outscored the Orioles in the second half, 4-0.
Ludington (1-3-0) travels to Cadillac for another non-conference game Thursday.
