MUSKEGON – Reese Smith threw her first perfect game from the circle and belted two homers to help Hart sweep Orchard View on Thursday.

The Pirates took both games of a doubleheader, 19-0 and 13-2.

Smith had a clean bill pitching in Game 1 with four strikeouts.

Makenna Carrier went 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs and two RBI. Smith was 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs and three RBI, while Cali Eisenlohr had two hits, three runs and three RBI. Caydence Bateson threw in a pair of hits, three runs and an RBI.

Leah Walker went 2-for-2 with a run, while Kelsey Copenhaver added a hit, including a homer, three runs and three RBI.

Copenhaver gave up two unearned runs, three walks and struck out 12 batters in Game 2.

Smith led the offense with two hits, one a homer, two runs and three RBI. Bateson chipped in on hit, two runs and three RBI. Carrier and Copenhaver each recorded a hit.

Hart (17-5, 7-3) hosts Holton on Tuesday to decide second place in the West Michigan Conference-Rivers Division. 

Orchard View will be at home on Monday for a doubleheader against Kent City.
