Noah Trombley hit a pair of free throws with six seconds left in overtime to give the Whitehall boys basketball team an exciting 39-37 victory over Mason County Central Thursday in West Michigan Conference action.

Trombley was also the hero in regulation, grabbing an offensive rebound and hitting the putback to tie the score and force overtime.

The victory was the first of the season for the Vikings, who are now 1-2 overall and 1-1 in league play. The Spartans fell to 3-1 and 1-1.

Whitehall had a balanced attack, led by Lucas Schumm with 9 points, Patrick Johnson with eight points and 10 rebounds and Keenan Aylor with eight points and eight boards. Mitch Lange had nine points and four steals for Mason County Central.

Oakridge 68, North Muskegon 53 – The undefeated Eagles (4-0 overall, 2-0 conference) jumped out to a 39-27 lead at halftime, then withstood a Norse comeback by hitting 14 of 20 free throws in the fourth quarter. Nate Wahr led Oakridge with 18 points and three assists, James Cooper added 17 points and eight rebounds while Hunter Benson had 13 points and two steals. Marco Visconti and Riley Fairfield scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, for North Muskegon, which fell to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Montague 51, Hart 17 – The Wildcats took a 10-1 lead after one quarter and a 25-4 lead at halftime and cruised to the win. Josh Weesies had 19 points and five rebounds for Montague while Jacob Buchberger contributed eight rebounds and three assists.
