The West Michigan Whitecaps moved back to .500 overall on the season after defeating Lake County 3-1 on the road Monday.

Jordan Pearce started the scoring for the Whitecaps, singling home Brady Policelli in the fourth inning, giving the Whitecaps a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the ninth, Anthony Pereira singled home Dylan Rosa extending the Whitecaps lead to 2-0. Reece Hampton then walked later In the inning, bringing home Pearce, making the score 3-0.

Lake County scrateched across a run in the home half of the ninth inning but the Whitecaps held on for the victory.

Pearce led the Whitecaps offense with three hits and an RBI on the night while Hampton had one RBI and two walks.

Starting pitcher Elvin Rodriguez picked up the win, allowing only three hits and striking out six in five innings of work.

The Whitecaps are now 63-63 overall on the year and 27-29 in the second half, five games behind first place Bowling Green for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.

On Tuesday, the Whitecaps will return home to start a three game series with Dayton at 7:05 p.m.
