SHELBY GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM FALLS TO HOUGHTON IN CLASS C QUARTERFINALS

The Shelby Tigers saw their Class C tournament run come to an end on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals against Houghton at Petoskey High School.

The Tigers lost 56-47 to finish the season with a 21-4 record.

Houghton (23-2) advances to The Breslin Center where they will face Saginaw Nouvel on Thursday in the Class C semifinals.

Shelby trailed 26-24 at halftime, but rallied for a 37-36 lead after three quarters.

Houghton outscored Shelby 20-10 in the final quarter to pull out the win.

Sydney Czurak led the Tigers with 24 points and Abby Rodriguez added 13.

Elisa Jurmo led Houghton with 26 points.
