The Fruitport Trojans ousted the Ludington Orioles 3-1 in Lakes 8 soccer on Wednesday night.

“I thought we came into this game with the right mindset,” Fruitport coach Jeannie McClain said. “We didn’t forget what happened the first time we played and we used that as motivation tonight. We had some girls play through some dings tonight and provide a gutty effort.”

The Trojans were held scoreless in the first half, but burst out with a trio of goals within the first 15 minutes of the second half.

Emily Winicki scored first and was assisted by Marissa Hassevoort. Winicki scored a second goal just minutes later and was assisted by Lauren Maus.

Lauren Peterson scored the final Trojan goal off of a pass from Hassevoort.

Jacquelyn Lynch scored the lone goal for Ludington, which dropped to 11-3 and 4-3 in Lakes 8 Conference.

Fruitport outshot Ludington 18-5. Trojan keeper Monica Holden had three saves.
