The won the Traverse City West Mother’s Day Tournament with a perfect 3-0 record.

But get this. The Lakers outscored their opponents by a combined score of 34-0. This first two games ended early due to the mercy rule. And all three opponents were from larger Division 1 schools, while Spring Lake is Division 2.

The Lakers improved to 21-0 on the season.

In the first game, the Lakers beat Ann Arbor Pioneer 11-0 in five innings. Lauren Somers was the winning pitcher, scattering three hits and striking out three.

Madelyn Nelson, Linsey Paggeot and Lauren Hellman each had two hits. Nelson added a solo inside-the park homer.

In Game 2, Spring Lake downed Traverse City West 16-0 in four innings.

Leah Vaughan got the win on the mound, allowing one hit and striking out five.

Hellman led the offense with three hits, while Katie Mumby, Jenna Core, Paggeot and Vaughan added two hits apiece.

Spring Lake beat Troy 7-0 in the tournament championship game.

Nelson got the win, scattering three hits and striking out 10.

Nelson, Mumby and Core led the Lakers with two hits each apiece Core added a solo inside-the-park homer.
