The Oakridge volleyball team captured the title at its own invitational tournament on Saturday, winning five matches and splitting one.

The Eagles defeated Godwin Heights, Mason County Central, Manistee and Muskegon, and split with Orchard View.

Oakridge defeated Orchard View in a rematch in the finals, 25-21, 25-19.

Gracie Reinhold led the Eagles with 32 kills on the day. Avery Wildig had 37 assists, Zoe Cerchiori served up 11 aces and Kaley Pascavis had 34 digs.

Runner-up Orchard View defeated Muskegon, Mason County Central and split with Godwin Heights, Manistee and Oakridge.

The Cardinals beat Godwin Heights a second time in the semifinals (25-10, 25-18) before falling to Oakridge in the finals.

Lily Johnson paced Orchard View with 38 kills while Cassidee White had 18 aces and 73 assists. Defensively, Bri Hawn had 15 digs and Allie TenHove registered six blocks.

The Cardinals recorded their first three victories of the season in the tournament. They are now 3-20-4 on the season.

Muskegon went 0-5 in the tournament.

Brionne Crews had a good day for the Big Reds with eight kills and 14 blocks. Deyonna Thompson had 15 assists while Monye Wilson and Brianne Alexander had 21 and 17 digs on the day, respectively.

Grant wins Cadillac Invitational

Grant came away with the championship in a field of 16 teams at the Cadillac Invitational on Saturday.

During pool play, the Tigers defeated Sparta (25-13, 25-16), Pine River (25-10, 25-14) and Midland Dow (25-21, 25-15).

The Tigers went on to beat Traverse City St. Francis and Midland in bracket play, before beating Cadillac in the finals 25-16, 25-13.

Kylie Patton led the Tigers with 55 kills while Olivia Keelean and Taylor Wegeneer had 43 and 33, respectively. Nicole Whan had 143 assists while Jill Arends had seven service aces and 60 digs.

Montague finishes 3-2 at Calvin Christian Invitational

The Montague volleyball team finished 3-2 at the Grandville Calvin Christian Invitational on Saturday.

The Wildcats started slowly, losing to both Mendon and Holland, but ended the day with victories over Calvin Christian, Harrison and Mendon.

Allyssa Bobian finished with a team-leading 53 kills for the Wildcats. Morgan Roesler had 66 digs and served nine aces while Summer Garwood had 96 assists.

Montague is now 24-10-1 on the season.

Fremont goes 1-4 at Cadillac tournament

Fremont finished with a 1-4 record at the Cadillac Invitational on Saturday.

The Packers started the day by losing three matches in a row to Traverse City St. Francis (19-25,19-25), Cadillac (12-25, 15-25) and Benzie.

The Packers responded with a win against Sparta (25-23, 21-25, 15-13) before wrapping up with a loss to Calumet (11-25, 25-19, 9-15).

Hesperia finishes 1-2 at Newaygo Invitational

The Hesperia volleyball team finished 1-2 at the Newaygo Invitational on Saturday.

The Panthers defeated White Cloud in their first match (25-22, 25-17). They went on to lose to Saranac and Hopkins.

Delaney Hussey led the Panthers with 11 kills and six blocks. Kyra Sayer finished with a team-leading 19 assists while Alyssa Miller had 15 digs.
