The Western Michigan Christian girls soccer team used great goaltending to capture a 1-0 victory over Ludington on Wednesday in Lakes 8 Conference action.

WMC goalkeeper Katie Johnson held her team in the game most of the way, before being relieved by Adayla Liggett.

The Warriors got the lone goal when Sydney Betten won a ball in the middle of the field and got it to Morgan Kinnucan. She passed it to a sprinting Emily Rosema, who put in the net.

WMC is now 2-3-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

CSAA

FREMONT 8, KENT CITY 0 – Taylor Crowley scored three goals to lead the Packers to the conference victory. Samantha Schmidt added two more, while Jeanelle Scharphorn, Avery Curnett, and Natalie Jamieson all had single tallies.  Kaley Wyant had two assists while Jamieson, Curnett, Paige Kinsey and Claire Whittle all added one.

Audrey Johnson got the shutout in goal for Fremont, which outshot the Eagles 25-0. The Packers improved to 4-2-2 while Kent City fell to 1-3-1.

NON-LEAGUE

MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 2, GR COVENANT CHRISTIAN 1 – The Crusaders came from behind to claim the non-league win.

Covenant scored first late in the first half, then Erin Lavigne found the net just 50 seconds before halftime, tying the score. She was assisted by McKenna Gentry. Lavigne scored the game winner with 10 minutes remaining, off of a free kick by Kyra Tyler.

Goalkeeper Kate Rauch made nine saves for the Crusaders, who were outshot 10-5.
