The West Michigan Whitecaps blew a 6-3 lead on Tuesday in a 9-6 loss at home to the Peoria Chiefs.

After falling behind 2-0, the Whitecaps scored a run in the second inning to make the score 2-1 when Sam McMillan singled home Parker Meadows.

With the score 3-1 in the fourth, the Whitecaps fought back to take a 5-3 lead. Runs in the inning came via a Nick Ames single scoring John Valente and Ulrich Bojarski, an Avery Tuck single scoring Ames and a Jeremiah Burks walk scoring Meadows.

In the bottom of the fifth, Meadows hit a sacrifice fly to score Bojarski and make the score 6-3 in favor of the Whitecaps.

Peoria scored two runs in the sixth and four runs in the eighth to defeat West Michigan.

Bojarski led the Whitecaps with three hits and two runs scored while Ames had one hit and two RBIs.

The Whitecaps fall to 14-16 on the season with the loss and remain three and a half games behind Great Lakes and Lake County for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division.

The Whitecaps will continue their home series versus Peoria on Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
