The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks volleyball team competed with top ranked teams at the Owens Express Tournament over Labor Day Weekend.

Other than a hiccup in the first match where the Jayhawks lost to No. 7 ranked Terra State (28-26, 25-15, 25-16), MCC dominated in the tournament and did not giving up another set.

The Jayhawks rallied and went on to defeat all three of their remaining opponents.

MCC beat Edison State 3-0 (25-8, 25-13, 25-18) and Hagerstown 3-0 (25-17, 28-26, 25-18).

In the final match, MCC faced No. 1 Owens and fought for a well earned victory, winning all three sets 25-22, 25-18, 25-19.

Reilly Murphy and Raegan Murphy led for the Jayhawks on the day. Reilly Murphy had 41 kills, eight aces, 54 digs, and 14 blocks while Raegan Murphy added 16 kills, 131 assists, four aces, 61 digs and 11 blocks.

Also contributing for the Jayhawks was Bridget McHugh with 40 kills and 16 blocks. Alicia Mumby had 26 kills and 25 blocks, Alexis Strait offered up 19 kills, four aces and 62 digs.

Maddy Wynn had 76 digs and Autumn Sharlow got 33 digs while Lindsey Ruiter had ten blocks for MCC.
