The Mona Shores hockey team went into the Thanksgiving break with a 9-1 win over visiting Lowell on Wednesday.

From the looks of the start of the game, the Sailors were going to be challenged as the Red Arrows took a1-0 lead  just four minutes into the opening period.

But Mona Shores’ Zach Leibrandt tied the score 1-1 barely a minute later off assists from Landon Taylor and Noah Lepzinski.

Nico Taylor gave the Sailors a 2-1 lead 42 seconds later, connecting on helpers from Chase Knowlton and Kolin Jackson.

Mona Shores added two more goals before the end of the first period, four more in the second period and one more tally in the third.

Trent Benedict led Mona Shores with a hat trick and an assist while Zach Leibrandt finished with two goals and an assist and Ethan Ring had two goals.

Ethan Ring finished with a pair of goals while Nico Taylor and Landon Taylor both finished with a goal and two assists for Mona Shores.

The Sailors were also led by Ty Langlois with three assists, Lepzinski finished with two assists. Jake Nanna and Luke Beilhartz posted assists as well for Mona Shores.

Nick Kelly posted the win in goal for Mona Shores.

The Sailors continue play at home today for a 5:15 puck drop against Grand Haven at Lakeshore Sports Center.
