LUDINGTON – Ludington’s girls basketball team bounced back from a non-conference loss to Cadillac with a convincing 56-37 win over Muskegon Catholic Central at home Friday night in the Lakes 8 Activities Conference.

The Orioles got off to a fast start, outscoring the Crusaders, 21-8 in the first quarter and nevver looked back. Ludington had a 19-9 advantage in the second and rolled into the half with a 40-17 lead.

Scoring fell off in the third period, with the two teams each scoring nine points and the Orioles took the floor for the fourth quarter up by a 49-26 margin. The Crusaders had an 11-7 edge in the final period.

Keelyn Laird scored 17 points to lead the Orioles, followed by RyAnn Rohrer added 14. Olivia Lynn contributed eight and Abi Bandstra seven.

Leading the Crusaders was McKenna Gentry with eight points, while Sara Albanese had seven and Grace Staniforth chipped in with six.

The Orioles improved to 14-5 overall and 8-1 in the conference. Ludington is off now until Friday, Feb. 25 at Muskegon Heights.

Muskegon Catholic Central fell to 8-9 overall and 4-5 in the conference with its third straight loss. The Crusaders are next scheduled to see action Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Bryon Center Zion Christian.
