MUSKEGON—Last Tuesday afternoon during a ceremony held at Redman-Potter Gymnasium on the campus of Muskegon High School, senior Maurice Sain Jr. officially signed his national letter of intent to attend Northwood University in Midland next fall and continue his basketball career for the Timberwolves,

Sain Jr. a 6’6” guard/forward for the Big Reds averaged 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game for Muskegon head basketball coach Keith Guy and his high flying offense during his senior season.

Sain Jr. helped lead Muskegon to a district championship title, an OK Conference-Green title with a perfect 14-0 league record and an overall record of 20-3.

Maurice was the glue guy, he held everything together for us,” said Muskegon head basketball coack Keith Guy recently.

Maurice could play multiple positions. He was one of our captains and he was the leader of the team. He always sacrificed himself for the betterment of the team,” Guy said.

Sain Jr. should be able to provide some immediate help for Northwood as the Timberwolves are coming off a season where they finished 5-21 overall and 3-16 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

We’re really excited about Maurice joining us,” said Northwood head coach Lonnie Griffin. ” We’re excited about his upside and what he is capable of doing.”

Sain Jr. currently carries a 3.5 GPA at Muskegon and will major in Sports Management at Northwood. Maurice is the son of Taniekka Harris and Maurice Sain Sr., along with Shawndra Sain (step-mother).
