CUSTER — Pentwater’s girls softball team swept a Western Michigan D League doubleheader from Mason County Eastern, 6-3 and 11-1 in Custer on Monday afternoon.

Mikaylyn Kenney did the pitching in the first game, striking out 19, walking just one and giving up just two hits.

Kenney took the circle in the second game and rang up 11 strikes outs to give her 30 for the day, walked two and again gave up only two hits.

Crysta Cluchey had another outstanding day behind the plate, ending two innings by throwing a runner out at second after Kenney had fanned the batter.

Although the Falcons struggled to put any hits together, the Cardinals helped Pentwater’s cause with on some errors and walks that contributed to the Falcon wins.

Pentwater improved to 9-3 overall and 6-2 in the WMD.
