JENISON–Grand Haven was able to move the ball for 251 yards of total offense, but struggled on third- and fourth-down conversions in a 31-6 loss to Jenison.

The Bucs converted just 5-of-21 opportunities.

The Wildcats ran for 314 yards and totaled 356 yards of offense. Jenison jumped out to a 7-0 first quarter and 14-0 halftime lead.

The Wildcats found the endzone once more in the third quarter to increase their lead to 21-0.

After an early field goal in the fourth quarter, Grand Haven finally found the endzone when Xavier Rodriguez tossed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Chase Robinson. One final Jenison touchdown resulted in a final score.

The Buccaneers’ offense primarily advanced the ball through the air. Rodriguez completed 8-of-22 for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Will Spoonas was the leading receiver with two receptions for 54 yards. Robinson was Rodriguez’s favorite target with four receptions for 36 yards and the score. Rodriguez was the leading rusher with 18 carries for 50 yards.

Grand Haven’s defense was anchored by Dylan Cummings with six tackles. Bode Wilson and Gus Abraham each tallied five tackles and a tackle for loss with Abraham’s being the only sack in the game.

Grand Haven (1-4, 0-3 in the OK-Red) will host Holland West Ottawa (0-3 in the OK-Red) next Friday.
