MONTAGUE–Kiara Mikkelsen from Montague signed her national letter of intent last Thursday afternoon to continue her softball career at Aurora University located in Aurora, Illinois.

Mikkelsen a senior at Montague plays centerfield for the Wildcats and will enter the spring softball season as a two-year starter.

Mikkelsen also plays softball for the Michigan Storm out of Zeeland, where she is coached by Matt Hill.

Aurora University is a NCAA Division III college and a member of the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC).

Mikkelsen will be arriving on a campus that has had a lot of success within the softball program since 2004 under the direction veteran softball skipper Mike McKenzie.

Since his arrival the Spartans have went 600-198 and 334-56 in conference play. The Spartans have made seven trips to the NCAA III championships and have won eight conference tournament championships.

Mikkelsen plans to major in Secondary Education as an English Major.

Kiara is the daughter of Letisha and Randall Mikkelsen.  Kiara currently maintains a 3.828 GPA (weighted) at Montague.
