ROCKFORD–It was a rough day for local Division 1 track and field teams on Saturday at the MHSAA state finals.

The meet was at Rockford High School.

In the boys’ division, Grand Haven finished in 13th place with 18 points while Reeths-Puffer came in 31st with six points and Muskegon finished in the 44th spot with four points.

St. Joseph took home the state title with 40.75. Clinton Township Chippewa Valley took the runner-up spot with 38 points while the host Rockford Rams came in third with 36 points.

Grand Haven junior Seth Norder took home the title in the 3200-meter run with a time of 9:04:68.

Muskegon junior Destin Piggee finished fifth in the 100-meter with a time of 11:01.

The Grand Haven 4 x 800 relay team finished in second place with a time of 7:46:75. The team consisted of Nolan Clark, Logan Vining, Ben Eisnor and Norder.

Reeths-Puffer senior Liam McHugh took third place in the high jump with a leap of 6-3.

In the girls’ division, Grand Haven finished in 30th place with six points.

Oak Park took home the state title with 80 points. Detroit Renaissance was second with 58 points and Ann Arbor Pioneer with 56 points.

Grand Haven freshman Nadia Prieditis came in 10th place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46:34.

The Grand Haven 4 x 800 relay team came in seventh place with a time of 9:18:93. The team consisted of Addison Smith, Eleanore Mitchell, Payton Hosley and Valerie Beeck.
