MUSKEGON — The Orchard View Cardinals tasted victory for the first time since 2020 on Thursday night with a 52-6 rout of the visiting Holton Red Devils.

Orchard View canceled its varsity season in 2021 and lost all nine of its games a season ago. The Cardinals last victory was Oct. 23, 2020 over Kent City.

But, on Thursday night, the Cardinals stormed out of the gate by scoring 22 points in the opening quarter and led 38-0 at the half.

Stephon Oakes started the scoring on a 46-yard touchdown run. Later in the quarter, quarterback Alexander Thiele scored from 8 yards out. Before the quarter ended, Curtis Scott caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Thiele and the Cardinals led, 22-0.

In the second quarter, Thiele scored on a 10-yard keeper and Mason Tuttle scored on a 16-yard run. That staked OV to a 38-0 lead at the half.

Gerald Dyke, Jr. added a 4-yard run to make it 44-0 before Holton got on the board on a 10-yard touchdown run.

Korson Bowen capped the evening’s scoring for the Cardinals on a 38-yard run.

Orchard View plays at Godwin Heights next Thursday while Holton travels to Perry on Thursday.
