MUSKEGON – The Fruitport Calvary Christian volleyball team took second place at the first Crusader Showdown over the weekend.

The Eagles took down Hesperia (25-23, 25-21, 18-25, 26-24) and Orchard View (25-14, 25-8, 25-13) in pool play. In bracket play, the Eagles fell to Holton (22-25, 8-25, 22-25) but topped host Muskegon Catholic (25-15, 25-11, 25-19).

Ella Dykman led the way with 56 kills, 22 digs, eight aces and five blocks while Sarah Deuby added 30 digs and 27 kills. Marissa Tyler had 119 assists, 21 digs and 10 aces. Brooke Trumbull had 13 digs, 10 kills and seven aces.

Muskegon Catholic Central posted a third-place finish on the day.

The Crusaders defeated Muskegon (25-8, 25-9, 25-9) and Libertas Christian (25-9, 25-15, 23-25, 25-13) but lost to Holton (12-25, 16-25, 16-25) and Calvary Christian.

Emily Muskovin had 51 assists, 15 aces and 15 kills while Molly Caughey threw in 16 kills and seven blocks. Lindsay Ladd chipped in 16 kills with three blocks and Daeja Hill had 20 digs and 11 aces. Abbi Cook made 19 digs and scored eight aces.

Calvary Christian (7-6, 0-1) will host Hesperia on Tuesday.
