HOLLAND – The Fruitport Trojans’ first road game of the season did not go well on Friday night.

The Trojans dropped a 64-27 decision to the host Holland Christian Maroons and fell to 0-4 on the season.

The Maroons led 29-0 in the second quarter before the Trojans got on the board on a 36-yard halfback pass from Kayden Beardsley to lanky Bobby Canfield, who ended up with two touchdowns and eight catches for 137 yards.

Beardsley scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter. Holland Christian led 36-14 at the half.

Fruitport cut into the deficit early in the third quarter on a Bradon Dornbos 22-yard touchdown pass to Canfield.

Holland Christian scored twice in the third quarter and once early in the fourth to take a 57-21 lead.

Trojan Ricky Wiggins scored on a 55-yard run to cap the scoring for the visitors.

Dornbos completed 19-of-28 passes for 192 yards. Wiggins rushed for 83 yards.

Fruitport travels to Allendale next Friday.
