HART – Shelby volleyball continued their run of dominance within the West Michigan Conference Rivers, defeating Hart on Tuesday and remaining unbeaten in the conference for two years running.

The Tigers won in three sets by scores of 25-13, 25-21 and 25-14.

Another impressive performance from junior Navea Gauthier led the Tigers. Gauthier dialed up 34 kills on 69 swings and chipped in 19 digs, four aces and a block.

“(Navea’s) ability to take over a game at the net and from the service line has our team playing some of our best ball at the right time of the season,” Shelby coach Tom Weirich said.

Playing key roles alongside Gauthier were Audrey Horton, Brylee Friedman and Molli Schultz. Horton led the team in assists with 32, Friedman recorded two aces and a block and Schultz was key on defense with 13 digs.

Shelby moved to 25-12 overall with the win. Both the Pirates and Tigers will turn their attention to Saturday when they’ll compete in the WMC Rivers Conference Tournament at Mason County Central.
