NORTON SHORES – The Mona Shores softball team bounced back to split a doubleheader against Wyoming in OK-Green play on Tuesday.

The Sailors lost the opener, 6-2, but pulled together in the nightcap for an 8-2 win.

Lilly Baskin got the start on the mound in Game 1 and gave up four hits, two walks, four runs and struck out three batters. In relief, Sophie Mettler allowed two hits, two walks, two runs and struck out two.

Amelia Pena gave the Sailors their lone hit to avoid the no-hitter.

Mettler went the distance in the nightcap. She allowed four hits and struck out three.

Maggie McCarthy had four hits, while Pena had three hits. Baskin and Mettler each added a pair of hits.

Mona Shores will travel to Coopersville on Thursday for a doubleheader.
