SHELBY — The Ludington Orioles opened things up in the second half with three goals and earned a convincing 4-0 victory over the Shelby Tigers on Wednesday.

Maddy Billings scored the first goal of the match for the Orioles for the one-goal lead after the first 40 minutes.

In the second half, Ludington got goals from Maddie Gasaway, Elianna Jeruzal and Emma McKinley.

“It’s helpful to get a little bit of breathing room,” said Ludington coach Kris Anderson. “It allows you to relax. Also, we still have a couple girls nursing a little bit of injuries, and it helps that we can maybe get them off their legs a little bit, maybe buy them so more minutes later on down the season.”

Cambrai Britton played the majority of the game in goal for the Orioles and finished with five saves. Grace Ashley relieved her in the second half and had one save.

Ludington improved to 4-6-3 overall and 4-0-3 in the West Michigan Conference and has Orchard View next in a conference game Monday at Oriole Field.
