WHITEHALL – The Whitehall football team fell behind early against Zeeland West and could not recover in a 60-43 victory on its home field.

Whitehall did battle back with 22 fourth-quarter points in the high-scoring affair.

The Vikings saw a steep 30-7 deficit after the first two quarters but gave their all to try and chip away at it.

Quarterback Camden Thompson was efficient with 15-of-17 passing for 220 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 62 yards on 11 carries. His rushes included a 51-yard touchdown.

Blake English was a key target with six receptions for 118 yards and a 69-yard touchdown. He also found the end zone for a rushing touchdown. Gavin Craner posted a rushing and a receiving touchdown. Corde Anderson chipped in a receiving touchdown.

Parker Mott the Viking defense with six tackles, including one for a loss and a sack. Thompson and Ryan Goodrich added five tackles apiece. English made four tackles and Brock Morningstar had three tackles, one for loss.

Craner and Cole Essebaggers each recorded a tackle for a loss.

Whitehall (1-2) will host Montague on Friday in the “Battle for the Bell.”
